This week, the 2nd Braintree and Bocking Cubs swapped their neckerchiefs for fire helmets (well, temporarily!) as they embarked on an exciting and educational visit to Braintree Fire Station. The evening was packed with hands-on learning, teamwork, and plenty of wide-eyed wonder as the Cubs discovered what it takes to be a real-life firefighter.

Learning the Ropes of Fire Safety

The visit was designed to help Cubs understand the importance of fire safety—both at home and in the community. The firefighters led engaging sessions covering:

  • How to prevent fires in everyday life
  • What to do in case of a fire emergency
  • The importance of having a fire escape plan
  • How to check smoke alarms and why they matter

The Cubs listened attentively and asked thoughtful questions, showing real interest in how they could help keep themselves and their families safe.

Behind the Scenes with the Fire Crew

The highlight of the evening was a guided tour of the fire engine and station facilities. Cubs got to:

  • Explore the equipment used in rescue operations
  • Try on firefighter gear
  • Learn how the crew prepares for different types of emergencies
  • Hear the sirens and see the flashing lights up close!

There were plenty of smiles and gasps of excitement as the Cubs discovered just how much goes into being a firefighter.

A Big Thank You!

The 2nd Braintree and Bocking Cubs would like to extend a huge thank you to the team at Braintree Fire Station for their time, enthusiasm, and dedication. The visit was not only fun but also incredibly valuable in helping our young people understand safety and community service.
