This May, 2nd Braintree & Bocking cubs joined over 1,600 Cub Scouts from across Essex to travel millions of years into the past for a thrilling weekend at Skreens Park Activity Centre, where dinosaurs ruled and adventure awaited around every corner.

A Jurassic Adventure Like No Other

From the moment Cubs arrived, Skreens Park was buzzing with energy. The site had been transformed into a dinosaur-themed wonderland, setting the stage for an unforgettable journey through time.

The action-packed programme featured:

  • 🧗 Climbing Walls to scale like a Velociraptor

  • 🔥 Bushcraft to learn survival skills in the wild
  • 🎨 Crafts, 🪄 Magic Shows, and 🦖 Dinosaur Encounters
  • 🎈 Inflatables and challenges big and small to keep Cubs moving and smiling

Learning, Laughing, and Roaring Together

The camp was more than just fun — it was a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and imagination. Cubs made new friends, tried new things, and discovered the thrill of outdoor adventure in a safe and supportive environment.

Group Lead Volunteer Dan / Blackbird shared:

“It was incredible to see so many Cubs come together for a weekend of discovery and excitement. The dinosaur theme sparked their curiosity and the activities helped build confidence and camaraderie.”

A Roaring Success

Whether they were backwoods cooking, conquering the gladiator course, or jumping on the inflatables every Cub left with memories to last a lifetime — and maybe a few muddy boots too!

As the sun set on Skreens Park, one thing was clear: Jurassic Mega Camp was a roaring success, and the Cubs can’t wait to see what adventure awaits next!
